Description

This signals support for a bzip2 compressed file list, instead of the huffman encoded list that NMDC pioneered. This compressed file list is available for download under the name MyList.bz2, instead of MyList.DcLst.

Benefits

  • Better compression than huffman, by 2-3 times
  • Smaller file lists can be transferred more easily
  • BZip2 is an established compression algorithm
