Summary

NMDC is an abbreviation for Neo-Modus Direct Connect, the first and only official client for the Direct Connect (DC) network. However, it was reverse engineered, and 3rd party clients now prosper and have become the de facto standard. Jon Hess is the sole programmer on the NMDC client. He also wrote the accompanying NMDC Hub software. In both of the Windows incarnations, banner ads are displayed.

Version History

• Version 1.x was written in Visual Basic
• A version for OS X was released, using a C++ back end, and including multi-hub (with no tag) and upload limiting features
• Version 2.x (for Windows) used the same back end and a C# GUI
